Job Title: Quality Manager

Location: Allentown, PA

Reports to: Plant Manager

 

Are you passionate about quality assurance and ready to take the lead in ensuring top-notch standards at a cutting-edge plastics and packaging manufacturing plant? As the Quality Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the quality culture and driving operational excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance Leadership:

  • Drive the achievement of quality assurance operational objectives by providing strategic insights, executing action plans, and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges, conduct audits, and initiate system improvements.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance plans, including hazard analysis, control measures, and monitoring procedures.
  • Validate quality processes by establishing specifications and performance qualifications.

 

Product Safety Advocate:

  • Take ownership of actions required to support product safety, including training, enforcement, and resource planning.
  • Establish statistical process controls where applicable to ensure product safety and quality.

 

Customer Satisfaction and Complaint Management:

  • Oversee the management of customer complaints, ensuring thorough investigations, and implementing short-term and long-term corrective actions.
  • Maintain and report on the CAR (Corrective Action Report) database, tracking and trending complaints.
  • Manage and report on daily non-conformances during production across all shifts.
  • Lead quality-based plant projects to reduce customer complaints.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal audits, track root causes, and assist in designing continuous improvement steps.
  • Manage document control for standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Provide weekly reports on plant quality through tracking and trending reports.
  • Oversee Material Review Board (MRB) and Quarantine activities.
  • Manage Pre-Delivery Shipment (PDS) sampling for required customers.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA requirements (21 CFR) for food/drug safety.
  • Stay updated on quality management trends and developments.
  • Lead the Food Safety program directive, ensuring GFSI/FSSC 22000 compliance.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven experience in direct management, with a focus on professional development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, working effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Strong character and alignment with the company's culture.

 

Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., QE, EE, ME) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Manager roles.

 

Preferred Experience & Education:

  • Quality Certification (CQE, CQA, ASO, etc.) is preferred.
  • Industry-specific experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Quality Certification implementation and requirements is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in utilizing statistics and establishing statistical process controls for Manufacturing is preferred.
